CeASR Seminar: Unhomely Homes: Airbnb and Transient Homemaking
Speaker: Dr Anna Pechurina
This presentation draws on qualitative research into Airbnb users’ experiences of home-sharing, focusing on practices of home-living, the material and sensory environments of homes, house rules and the relations between hosts and guests. Starting with an overview of the concept of the ‘multidimensional home’, the presentation goes on to explore how far Airbnb homes and their social, material and sensory environments represent and produce particular forms of ‘transient’ homemaking culture, and particular kinds of hospitality. All welcome.
